The Niles Historical Society operates the Niles Historical Museum and collects information pertinent to Niles history. The museum has a 1913 Model T Ford, a covered wagon and exhibits of old farm and work tools, kitchen appliances and equipment, an old-fashioned school room and exhibits of clothing, washing machines and other necessities of life prior to the age of modern technology. Some of the items in the collections include a Victrola, old typewriters, a kerosene lamp, an ice box and a horse drawn plow.

The Society welcomes tour groups, including seniors, students and tourists. Arrangements can be made for groups to bring bag lunches to the museum.

The museum increased its level of handicapped accessibility in April 2010 by installing an elevator so patrons can reach the second and third stories.

The museum puts on a program one Sunday every month from 2 to 4 p.m. While it is typically held on the fourth Sunday, the date sometimes varies. Recent programs included "Evolution of the Comic Book," "Roaring 20s Duo" and "Chicago in the Railroad Era."
