Benedictine University was founded in 1887 in Chicago as St. Procopius College. It is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, Illinois State Board of Education Teacher Certification Section, National League for Nursing and Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education of The American Dietetic Association. Benedictine University enrolls more than 4,500 students in various graduate and undergraduate programs.
