Founded in 1967, the Common Place Family Learning Center deals in issues related to poverty, racism and injustice. Its youth program offers services to more than 1,800 children in kindergarten through grade 12. The center administers a summer work study program that serves low-income children up to the age of 15. The Common Place Family Learning Center offers health and safety, emergency care and food services. It also provides home repair and tutorial services for school children. It administers a summer teen employment program that includes weeding and environmental awareness activities and field trips . The Common Place Family Learning Center receives products, such as soaps, deodorants, toothpastes, combs, hairbrushes and shampoos from fundraisers. It is located in Peoria, Ill.
