Located in Sciota, Ill., West Prairie High School provides general academic programs to more than 280 students in grades 9 through 12. It conducts classes in consumer education, sociology, wildlife management, health science and computer concepts. The school s syllabus includes English, mathematics, social studies, language arts and music. It also maintains a library and media center that stocks books and periodicals and provides links to search engines. The school organizes a range of athletic activities, such as volleyball, basketball, softball, cross country, and track and field. It operates a student council and art, science and Spanish clubs, as well as sponsors the National Honor Society. In addition, West Prairie High School is accredited by the Illinois State Board of Education and employs over 25 staff members. It is a part of West Prairie CUSD 103, which additionally governs elementary and middle schools and serves nearly 700 students.
