Alternatives, founded in 1978 in Anderson, Ind., is a residential facility serving victims of domestic violence and homelessness, including women and dependent children. The organization s programs include a 24-hour crisis helpline, sexual assault programs, children and youth services and outreach and training programs. The agency also offers a shelter program that assists families obtain self-sufficiency and freedom from the government s systems. Alternatives offers services and programs, such as education, prevention and intervention to eradicate domestic violence in collaboration with various community organizations throughout central Indiana.
