Hickory Pit Stop

The restaurant is operated by a 3rd generation Ellison and current pitmaster Jeff and has been serving the greatest BBQ in the Tri-State area since 1957. Our smokers use real hickory wood and our meats are cooked low & slow for that authentic barbecue flavor. Customers flock to the North Main Street restaurant for its renowned barbecue amid a nostalgic family atmosphere with what is probably the only original brick pit left in operation in Southern Indiana. The wood building, reminiscent of a traditional mom and pop place, sits at the corner of North Main and Morgan streets, across from historic Bosse Field. The Hickory Pit Stop members are strong believers in faith, family, community, and country. The restaurant can often be found donating their time and talents by participating in and/or hosting local fundraisers to benefit individuals in need, local law enforcement, local churches,the Otters Frontier League baseball team, and our Nation's military.
