The Central Library offers a range of books, reference sets and resource materials. The library is a part of the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library, which provides materials, programs and services in support of the lifelong learning, recreational and economic interests of county citizens. The public library system consists of more than 20 branches throughout Marion County, Ind. Founded in 1873, it offers a collection of over 2 million items, such as books, magazines, large print materials, audiocassettes, videocassettes, CDs and DVDs. The Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library also provides a range of foreign language materials. In addition, the library organizes and hosts lectures and live performances. It maintains a location in Indianapolis.
