Design Engineers was founded in 1983 as a sole proprietorship and incorporated in 1986 by Ron Foster. The initial staff of four has grown to thirty-two today. Amy Infelt joined the firm in 1989, has been a principal since 1999 and now serves as managing principal leading the marketing efforts and overseeing the administrative functions. After joining the firm in 1993, Dwight Schumm became a principal in 2001 and currently serves as managing principal and mechanical department manager. Jim Russell returned to Design Engineers in 2003, became a principal in 2005 and manages the electrical department. Our personnel are constantly reviewing products and systems available so each project is designed using the equipment best suited for that application. Product specifications are based on quality, costs and service reliability from both the manufacturer and the local representative. We take pride in the quality of the documents we produce, not only for their appearance, but also their technical completeness. They are easy to follow for all involved in the project including contractor estimators, field installing personnel, equipment suppliers and end users' operation and maintenance personnel. All of our contract document work is done utilizing AutoCAD MEP software through our in-house local area network. As Consultants, we are committed to working with our clients in establishing project definitions, design deadlines, construction budgets and completion dates, with a commitment to accomplish these goals mutually agreed upon. It is our belief that open communications in the design phase, with all parties involved in the project, will minimize construction field problems.
