Asylum Bridge, located in Osawatomie, Kansas, is a historic structure that spans the Marais des Cygnes River at First Street. Built between October and December of 1905 by the Kansas City Bridge Company, it is recognized on the National Register of Historic Places for its unique reverse Parker truss design, measuring 219 feet long and 165 feet wide.

Although the bridge has been closed to vehicle traffic since the mid-1970s and to pedestrian traffic for safety reasons in subsequent decades, it remains a notable landmark in the community. Its construction was completed at a bid of $4,800, the lowest among ten competing companies, and it originally featured gas lights at each end.

A very cool and creepy part of Osawatomie and Kansas history. Has a sad kind of beauty to the architecture. Hope one day it will be restored to its original glory and useable bridge.
