Founded in 1857, Kentucky Education Association offers public education to children and protects the employment rights of public school employees. The association focuses on improving education funding, safety of schools, better materials, smaller class sizes and empowerment of school employees and parents. It is a voluntary membership organization for school employees that has a base of member practitioners in public education, including public school teachers and support professional employees, school administrators, the workforce development cabinet, Kentucky Community and Technical College System, college students preparing to become teachers and retired educators. KEA is organized into various district associations. Its president and vice president work full-time for the children and employees of Kentucky's public schools. The association also focuses on improving public education by providing various teaching and learning resources for teachers and students. Based in Frankfort, Ky., KEA is affiliated with the National Education Association.
