Opened in 1977, Western Kentucky Correctional Complex is a medium security facility that houses more than 650 people. It features a 180-plus-bed minimum security unit and over 2,200 acres of farm area. The complex provides a variety of sex offender treatment, farm and positive mental attitude programs. It also offers alcohol, narcotics and drug abuse programs. The complex provides housing, health care and safety for adult male felons. It has nearly 15 registered bulls, approximately 630 head of commercial cattle and more than 20 acres of garden crops, as well as an apple orchard. The complex maintains a staff of over 200 employees. Western Kentucky Correctional Complex is located in Fredonia, Ky.
