Plains is a city in Meade County, Kansas, United States. The population was 1,163 at the 2000 census. It is notable for the width (155' 5") of its main street.
Plains is located at 37°15′45″N 100°35′30″W / 37.2625°N 100.59167°W / 37.2625; -100.59167 (37.262633, -100.591681). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.0 square miles (2.6 km²), all of it land.

The racial makeup of the city was 82.12% White, 1.29% Native American, 14.27% from other races, and 2.32% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 26.23% of the population.
