Springfield is a city in and county seat of Washington County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 2,634 at the 2000 census. It was established in 1793 and probably named for springs in the area.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.5 square miles (6.5 km2), all of which is land.
