Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport MSY is an airport serving New Orleans and southeastern Louisiana. MSY Airport is situated approximately 10 miles to the west of New Orleans’s city center. Currently, the airport transports about 8.5 million passengers annually. New Orleans International is the lowest sitting airport in the United States at 4.5 feet above sea level. The airport is named in honor of Louis Armstrong the famous jazz musician who hails form New Orleans, Louisiana.
