<p>Founded in 1903, the Embry African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E) Church was among the first establishments built in Lakeland, a traditionally African-American community in College Park. Its mission remains the same now as it was then: "To provide for the needs of our community through teaching, preaching and spreading the word of God." The Rev. Dr. Edna Canty Jenkins is the pastor of the Embry A.M.E. Church, which is located at the intersection of Lakeland Road and 51st Avenue.</p>
