The Maryland State Police, established in 1935, offers services for the protection of residents lives and property, as well as the deterrence, detection and investigation of criminal activities. It offers several support services, including gun registration, animal control, fingerprinting, concealed weapon permits, and traffic and parking law enforcement. Maryland State Police operates a police museum that features a collection of artifacts, photographs, and videotaped and oral historical items related to the police department. The agency department supports and conducts several youth events and neighborhood and vacation watch programs. Maryland State Police, with a location in North East, Md., also organizes child safety seat checks, citizen surveys, forensics camps, and workplace violence and identity theft seminars.
