<p>Law Enforcement Apprentice Program (LEAP&nbsp;) is part of the&nbsp;Special Operations Division,&nbsp;Volunteer Resources Section of the Montgomery County Police Department.</p> <p>The program requires applicants be at least 16 years old, pass a background check and volunteer at least eight hours a week for six months. This includes biweekly training for a variety of law-enforcement aspects. Training focuses on officer safety, patrol procedures, radio communications, traffic laws, K-9, forensics,&nbsp;crimes and community policing. Volunteers work one-on-one with officers in the field, at special events and in the station.</p>
