Established in 1977, Piccowaxen Middle School serves more than 450 students in grades six through eight. The school has a guidance department that emphasizes character and safety education, violence prevention, and tobacco, alcohol and drug resistance. The middle school has a library that has a collection of books that include fiction and nonfiction titles, as well as various databases, reference materials, magazines and newspapers. Piccowaxen Middle School offers lessons in science, language arts, social studies, math, and health and physical education. In addition, the school provides classes in band, chorus and instrumental music. Piccowaxen Middle School is located in Newburg, Md., and is a part of Charles County Public Schools.
