Opened in 1971, Shady Side Elementary School enrolls more than 400 students in kindergarten through grade five. It operates several academic departments, such as language arts, mathematics, science and social studies. The school additionally has art, music and physical education specialists. Shady Side Elementary School also offers the English for Speakers of Other Languages program and gifted and talented education. It supports band and strings clubs.
