Founded in 1967, Setra Systems designs and manufactures pressure, acceleration and weight sensing devices. Its engineering and research department develops transducers and systems based on the accurate variable capacitive transduction principle. Setra is ANSI-ASQ and ISO 9001:2000 certified through its registrar, the National Quality Assurance. This prestigious certification requires Setra to maintain a documented quality system to ensure customer satisfaction through controlled design, manufacturing and employee training programs. Setra Systems is located on a scenic 23-acre site in Boxborough, Mass. The 200,000-square-foot facility houses the executive, sales and manufacturing departments. Setra has additional manufacturing capacity at its wholly owned subsidiary in China, Setra Sensing Technology Tianjin. Gems Sensors of Plainville, Conn., acquired Setra Systems in December 2001. Gems Sensors, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Danaher Corporation, designs, manufactures and markets liquid level, flow and pressure sensors and controls.
