Lucca's American Kitchen, inspired by a trip to Lucca, Italy in June 2012, was founded by John and Jodi Davick after years of experience in the restaurant industry. Officially opened in November 2017, the restaurant quickly gained a reputation for its fresh, scratch-made dishes and excellent customer service in the same building that housed the Gondola Restaurant for 58 years.

Following a devastating fire in July 2021 that necessitated a complete rebuild of the original location, the Davicks adapted by operating a food truck to serve their loyal customers. They have since opened a temporary location near their original site as they work towards creating an improved version of Lucca's American Kitchen.
