In operation for more than 90 years, the Road Commission for Oakland County maintains over 2,700 miles of county roads and nearly 230 miles of state highways. The commission administers approximately 80 bridges and more than 1,200 county, city and state traffic signals. It offers the FAST-TRAC system, which improves traffic flow and decreases travel time. The commission provides maintenance services in summers and winters. The Road Commission for Oakland County also offers ditching, culvert cleaning and grading services. The commission provides emergency power during power outages for traffic signals. In addition, it installs and maintains guard rails and traffic signs. The commission offers environmental consultation services. The Road Commission for Oakland County issues residential and commercial permits.
