St. Agnes

St. Agnes Martyrs of Uganda Parish Church, originally established in 1914, served as a pivotal community anchor in Detroit's LaSalle Park neighborhood for decades. While the church witnessed a vibrant congregation growth and significant community events, including a visit from Mother Teresa in 1981, it ultimately faced challenges stemming from civil unrest and demographic shifts that led to declining attendance.

After merging with St. Theresa Avila in 1989 and undergoing several transitions, including a closure in 2006, the church has fallen into disrepair despite new ownership aimed at revitalizing the site. With the surrounding area beginning to rejuvenate, there is potential for St. Agnes to reclaim its role as a cornerstone of community life once again.
