Steven Cabinets is owned by partners Doug Steven and Dennis Johnson. The company was founded by Doug's father in 1964 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Doug grew up working in his father's shop and learned the trade from the ground up. Doug joined his father and brother and moved the business to the Twin Cities in 1980. They were early adopters of the "European" style frameless cabinetry, which was designed to maximize space utilization and manufacturing efficiency. They quickly became known in trade circles for their high quality and innovation. Doug took over the family business in 1987 and continued to grow the company. In 2009, Doug became partners with Dennis Johnson, the owner of Anderson Millwork. Anderson Millwork, which began in 1935, specialized in traditional face frame and inset cabinetry. They combined operations, bringing talented staff and enhanced manufacturing capabilities to Steven Cabinets Biography Doug Steven is a past President of NARI and has held a contracting license for 29 years. He was named to the Remodeling Magazine's Big 50 in 2002. Doug, along with his design and project management staff, knows the ins and outs of working with Architects, Interior Designers, Contractors, and other specialty trades people to achieve the perfect combination of design, functionality and cost.
