Volunteers of America is a national, nonprofit, spiritually-based organization that coordinates human service programs and opportunities for community involvement. The organization serves more than 2 million people each year. It initiates outreach programs that deal with pressing social needs. Volunteers of America assists at-risk youths, elderly citizens, abused and neglected children, disabled individuals and homeless people. The organization designs, builds and manages affordable housing for the underprivileged. It offers shelter, job training and transitional housing to homeless individuals and families.
