Founded in 1964, Monroe Elementary School educates students in kindergarten through grade five. It offers English as a Second Language and special education programs. The school features an iMac laboratory that allows students to work on the Internet, word processing stories and creating multimedia projects. Its academic curriculum includes various subjects, such as language arts, music, physical education, art, math, social studies and science. The school organizes annual banquets, music programs, and academic and art nights where students display artwork and technology projects that they have developed. It has a parent-teacher association that organizes various fundraising and other events, including book fairs and hearing and vision screening. Monroe Elementary School is a part of the Anoka-Hennepin School District and is located in Brooklyn Park, Minn.
