The Mississippi Animal Rescue League is a 501-C-3 non-profit organization that for over 40 years has dedicated itself to the prevention of cruelty to animals. MARL is supported solely by donations and receive no city, state or federal funds. We are an "Open door" shelter, which means that we never turn any animal away. We are here for all those that are injured, sick, alone, lost and in need of sanctuary and a loving home. In 2008, we received over 16, 000 animals at a cost of over $800, 000. While the majority of our animals are dogs and cats, we also received many horses, goats, and donkeys. In the past fifteen years we have received an assortment of wild animals; one tiger, about five cougars, seven monkeys, three apes and we have lost count of the number of birds, rabbits, hamsters and snakes that have come through our doors. Lets not forget the two alligators.
