The Meridian Star has served the citizens of East central Mississippi and west Alabama since its founding as the The Evening Star in 1898. The newspaper was renamed The Meridian Star in 1915 and has served as the city's only daily newspaper since 1921. It is owned by Community Newspaper Holdings, an independent, privately owned publishing company. The company s group of newspapers includes daily and weekly newspapers along with shopper and specialty publications. The company operates nearly 90 daily newspapers and approximately 210 non-daily publications in more than 200 communities throughout the United States. The Meridian Star publishes seven days a week. The newspaper converted from evening to morning delivery in early 2005. The Meridian Star is located in Meridian, Miss.
