Established in 1917, Hinds Community College is one of the largest educational institutes in Mississippi. It provides a variety of academic and extracurricular activities for students in Claiborne, Copiah, Rankin and Warren counties in Mississippi. The college serves more than 19,500 students annually. Hinds Community College provides degree and certificate programs in English, computer programming, nursing and foreign languages. Additionally, it offers academic classes in hospitality and tourism management, history, political science, philosophy and journalism. The college conducts seminars, workshops and industrial training classes. Hinds Community College provides opportunities for students to participate in a range of sports activities, such as baseball, soccer and football. It has an Afro-American culture club.
