Pathology and Anatomical Sciences is one of the departments of the School of Medicine operated by the University of Missouri Health Care. The department offers a wide range of courses in anatomical sciences dealing with the understanding of structure and function of the body, and pathology dealing with all aspects of human disease. It teaches and conducts research in anatomy, cell biology, pathology and laboratory medicine. The department offers courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and students work with individual faculty to conduct research and obtain advanced degrees. Pathology and Anatomical Sciences processes more than one million patient samples every year. The department organizes a variety of patient care conferences and anatomic and clinical pathology resident training programs. In addition, it has surgical and cellular pathology laboratories to perform autopsies. Located in Columbia, Mo., the department also offers several electives for medical students.
