After obtaining his embalmers license in 1912, C.Z. and his wife Lottie (Womack) Boyer opened the C.Z. Boyer & Son Hardware and Undertaking Company in Desloge, Missouri. Thier only son Burlin joined the family business in 1932. The business expanded in 1955 with the purchase of Benham Undertaking Company in Bonne Terre, previously under the management of P.A. and Lenn Benham. Soon after, the Bonne Terre and Desloge Funeral Homes were incorporated under the name C.Z. Boyer & Son, Inc In 1992, Boyer Funeral Home in Leadwood was purchased from Burt Boyer. Nearly 100 years ago, the business began with a horse drawn hearse and visitations taking place in the family home. Today, the Boyer's are in the fifth generation of service to area families. New Beginnings Grief and Loss Compassionate, caring funeral service does not end when the family leaves the graveside. Everyone experiences death differently. Boyer & Son Funeral homes, we continue to help families through their bereavement by offering a continuing care program "New Beginnings" which is coordinated by Kathy Grogan-Bleckler. New Beginnings Grief and Loss day group meets each Wednesday at 10 a.m. (upstairs) at Belgrade State Bank, 414 N. State St. in Desloge. New Beginnings evening group meets each Thursday at 6: 30 p.m., in room C at the North College Center on the Mineral Area College Campus. New Beginnings is spinsored by C.Z.
