The Love family began to donate parcels of land to St. Louis County in 1959. The final donation provided that 15 acres of the park remain in a natural condition. The two picnic shelters were named after the Love children. A portion of Grand Glaze Creek crosses throught the park.

I had a birthday party at Mary's Shelter, right next to the playground. It was perfect! The structure had power, water access, was close to restrooms and had great shade with about 10 tables....
