Object Computing, Inc ( OCI ) is a company of software engineers and was founded by Ebrahim Moshiri, Ph. D. in 1993. OCI 's roots were as a provider of object oriented mentoring and educational services, with a strong focus on the practical, to a large St. Louis-based organization. With the growing recognition of the power of OO, OCI was able to quickly expand its service offerings and its client base, both within St. Louis and beyond. Consulting became a significant part of our business as many clients migrated both their staff skills and their systems, from procedural programming to that of object oriented.In 1998, Sun awarded OCI one of the first designations in the country as a Sun Authorized Java Center, in recognition of our leadership in the early adoption of Java.Knowledge transfer is considered a core OCI competency and a key part of our strategy in building long term relationships with clients and their staff. OCI encourages a culture of continuous learning through lunch 'n learns, study groups, free tuition for in-house classes, supported tuition at local universities, and via active participation, sponsorship and leadership in local user groups.Also in 1998, OCI opened its Phoenix office to better serve a client base that had been established in that area. Additionally, OCI embarked on a line of business that involved development and support of an emerging model of software development, known as open source.
