Macon is a city in Macon County, Missouri, United States. The population was 5,471 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Macon County.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 6.4 square miles (16.6 km²), of which, 6.1 square miles (15.9 km²) of it is land and 0.3 square miles (0.8 km²) of it (4.52%) is water.
As of the census of 2010, there were 5,471 people, 2,434 households, and 1,448 families residing in the city. The population density was 903.9 people per square mile (348.8/km²).
