Mokane is a small city in Callaway County, Missouri, United States. The population was 188 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Jefferson City, Missouri Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Mokane is located at 38°40′34″N 91°52′28″W / 38.67611°N 91.87444°W / 38.67611; -91.87444 (38.676041, -91.874404). It is located on the north bank of the Missouri River at mile 123.4. The Katy Trail, a rails-to-trails hiking/biking path, runs through the town, which stands at mile 125. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.3 square miles (0.8 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 188 people, 77 households, and 48 families residing in the city. The population density was 628.6 people per square mile (242.0/km²). There were 91 housing units at an average density of 304.3 per square mile (117.1/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.94% White, 0.53% Native American and 0.53% Asian. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.53% of the population.
