Slack-Carroll House is a historic site, having been built in the early 19th century. It served as the first doctor's office in Dayton and is known as the first hospital, and had the first indoor plumbing in town. Every third Tuesday of any given month the Dayton Village Citizens' Coalition and the South Brunswick Garden Club hold their meeting inside the building. The house is also home to exhibits such as medicine in the Cold War, antique roses in Victorian Gardens, mosquitoes, disease and the New Jersey Mosquito Extermination Movement.
