Sequoia Alternative Program is an educational institution that focuses on the development of personal character and social, academic and leadership skills for its students. Its academic curriculum includes math, English, social studies, and family and consumer science, as well as specially designed educational program for students with physical and intellectual disabilities. Sequoia Alternative Program includes The Renaissance Program, which focuses on recognition and acknowledgement for children s personal accomplishments using gifts and rewards as encouragement. It also provides opportunities to participate in various community services, such as assisting children with disabilities and visiting and entertaining senior citizens. Additionally, the institution conducts field trips to museums, manufacturing facilities and corporations, as well as colleges and postsecondary educational institutions. Sequoia Alternative Program is located in Tabernacle, N.J., and is a part of the Lenape Regional High School District, which operates several elementary, middle and high schools.
