Lucien B. Maxwell, then the largest landowner in the United States, founded the First National Bank of Santa Fe on Dec. 13, 1870. It was the first bank established in the New Mexico territory. In 1870, there was no other bank within 400 miles. The First National Bank of Santa Fe is the oldest bank in the Southwestern United States. The bank provides an array of services, such as checking and savings accounts that may incorporate features to interest bearing money market accounts, lending packages that are designed for individual situations, estate planning and trust services, comprehensive investment management capabilities and complete brokerage services.
