The City of Albuquerque in New Mexico s Department of Family and Community Services works to improve the quality, delivery and effectiveness of health, social, recreational, nutritional, educational, housing and other service programs for the residents of the Albuquerque metropolitan area, with a focus on low- and moderate-income families. Its services include comprehensive child and family development programs to promote empowerment of families, including teen parents. Its Early Head Start program offers more than 10 sites for income-eligible families with children up to 3 years of age, and over 20 child development centers for preschool children, ages 3-to-5-years of age, of working or student parents. The department provides a variety of recreational, educational and growth producing activities and services for individuals of all ages, including clubs, camps, before and after school educational, recreational and music programs.
