Founded in 1884, Academy of the Holy Names is a private, independent, catholic, college-preparatory school for more than 570 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. It is a more than 60-acre campus that supports art, chorus, music, theatre and dance activities. The campus facilities include an arts center, library, gymnasiums, auditoriums, cafeterias, chapels, playing fields, and science and computer laboratories. It conducts classes in English, biology, history, psychology and computer technology. Academy of the Holy Names also conducts classes in French and Spanish. It also organizes basketball, volleyball, softball and soccer activities. The campus additionally operates a multicultural club and a student council. It is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and the University of the State of New York Board of Regents. Academy of the Holy Names is a member of the National Catholic Education Association and the Catholic School Administrators Association of New York State. It is sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus & Mary, which operates a network of schools, including Ramona Convent Secondary School, St. Mary's Academy and Holy Names Academy.
