The Division of Lands and Forests is responsible for the management, protection and recreational use of land in New York. The division offers support services to people who use land. The division s forest preserve management bureau offers educational, outreach and preserve unit management programs. Its private land services bureau provides landowner assistance, forest health and protection services. The Division of Lands and Forests is a part of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, which also operates environmental remediation, mineral resources, and solid and hazardous materials divisions.
