The Division of Sanitation is governed by the Suffolk County Government in New York. It operates a range of valve chambers and electric pumps. The division specializes in the administration, design and inspection of capital improvements to sewer district facilities. It has expertise in the review and construction inspection of sanitary projects. The Division of Sanitation maintains more than 20 sewage treatment plants and sewer districts and over 70 pumping stations. It is managed by the Department of Public Works, which also operates through vector control, transportation, departmental purchasing, facilities engineering, and building design and construction divisions. The Department of Public Works offers fleet maintenance and waterways engineering services.
