Jose M. Prince, MD, leads a team of general pediatric surgeons and is the director of the Laboratory of Pediatric Injury and Inflammation in the Feinstein Institutes Center for Immunology and Inflammation. As a pediatric surgeon, Dr. Prince is a true general surgeon, treating kids from head to toe for nearly any condition. He often sees kids for appendectomies and chest wall deformity surgeries.Dr. Prince is proud to lead a team of surgeons at the forefront of innovative approaches. An operation can be a lot for a childs body to handle, so Dr. Prince and his team use minimally invasive techniques to reduce complications or visible scars from surgery as possible.He attended Yale University School of Medicine, where he was awarded a prestigious Howard Hughes Medical Institute Research Fellowship. He completed his general surgery training, pediatric surgery training, and three-year postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh. He later went on to join as founding faculty ofthe Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell in 2010.Dr. Prince is a member of many international and national societies, including the American College of Surgeons and American Academy of Pediatrics. He serves as a guest reviewer for many scientific publications like Tissue Engineeringand Molecular Medicine, and has authored more than 80 scientific reports, articles and chapters across many journals.As the father of three children, Dr. Prince knows how important it is to listen to kids to understand their perspective. He empowers them to be mature participants in their care as much as possible, by creating an environment where they and their parents feel comfortable, confident and supported at all times.
