Matthew D. Nguyen, MD, is a board certified fellowship trained ophthalmologist with an interest in cataract surgery, corneal transplant surgery including Descemet’s membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) and Descemet’s stripping endothelial keratoplasty (DSEK), refractive surgery, anterior segment surgery, and general ophthalmologic practice. He is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Weill Cornell Medicine and Assistant Attending Ophthalmologist at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medicine.Dr. Nguyen was born in Virginia and grew up in New York and New Jersey. He graduated from Columbia University in New York with a BA in Neuroscience and Behavior. He remained in New York for his MD at Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons, where he was awarded the Behrens Memorial Prize in Ophthalmology. He received his ophthalmology residency training at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he was given the Distinguished Housestaff Award. Following residency, he completed a cornea fellowship at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia.
