Rainbow's End Child Development Center

Founded in 1957, Dutchess BOCES provides a wide variety of educational programs and support services to children and adults who reside in Dutchess County, N.Y. The organization serves a student base of more than 46,000 pupils. It provides adult education through a career and learning center, certified nursing programs, literacy programs, health care training, training in office skills and trade certifications. It also provides alternative education programs that include alternative high school, treatment programs and itinerant services. The organization offers career and technical education in the arts and humanities, business information systems, environmental science, engineering and technology, health services, and human and public services. In addition, the center offers job placement services. Dutchess BOCES is headquartered in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

Dutchess Day School offers education to more than 170 students in pre-kindergarten through grade eight. It conducts classes on various subjects, including science, math, social studies, history, English and physical education. Dutchess Day School s visual arts program is designed to encourage creative thinking and develop skills and conceptual understanding of art. Additionally, its curriculum allows students to make use of drawing, painting, clay modeling and printmaking. Dutchess Day School s lower school program allows students to learn and discover in self-contained classrooms with their teachers and in the music room, art studio, computer center, gymnasium, science lab and library with faculty specialists in these fields. In addition, it offers a parents-teacher association that serves as room parents, chaperons on class trips, and volunteers in school fundraisers and community events. Dutchess Day School is located in Millbrook, N.Y.

The Children's Annex is a private, nonprofit program for children with special needs, and is located in Kingston, N.Y. It is approved by the New York State Office of Education of Children with Disabling Conditions and the New York State Health Department. It offers academic instruction in language arts and mathematics to children between the ages of 2 and 15. Its school-age program is a social and academic learning program for students between the ages of 5 and 12. It offers an intensive learning program for students between the ages of 3 and 15 that provides communication development, including augmentative systems like sign language and assistive devices and the enhancement of verbal abilities. It offers community-based services, such as special education, speech and language therapies and counseling. The Children's Annex also offers 12-month school program and tuition and transportation services and has been operational since 1976.
