John W. Dodd Middle School provides educational instruction to students in grades seven through eight. It has an enrollment of more than 1,000 students and is a part of the Freeport Union Free School District. The school offers classes in science, math, social studies, English, reading, technology, art, music, foreign language, health, physical education, and home and career skills. It also provides a Challenge Course comprising instructional units that include research, problem solving, critical thinking and logic, and persuasive speaking and listening. The school has various clubs and service organizations, including photography, art, crafts, drama, environment, French and Spanish language, science and sewing clubs, as well as Odyssey of the Mind, Future Problem Solving, yearbook, Dodd Echo, Peer Mediation and the National Junior High School Honor Society.
