Established in 1965, West Cary Middle School serves more than 1,100 students in grades six through eight. Its academic curriculum includes various subjects, such as math, science, social studies and language arts. The school offers a variety of elective programs, including band, chorus, orchestra, art, dance, business education, information technology, and family and consumer science. In addition, West Cary Middle School conducts foreign language sessions in Spanish and offers the English as a Second Language program. It operates various student organizations, such as a student council and beta and book clubs.
