Forsyth Academy is a charter school that teaches more than 690 students in kindergarten through eighth grade. It is authorized by North Carolina State Board of Education and operated by National Heritage Academies. The academy works under the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Forsyth Academy s core curriculum includes language arts, science, math and social studies. It provides various parental involvement opportunities, including playground duties during recess, shelving books in the library, chaperoning field trips and helping in planning the school carnivals. The academy maintains a library that provides a selection of reference books, archives, biographies, databases, encyclopedias, newspapers and magazines. Established in 1999, Forsyth Academy supports several community service programs and is located in Winston-Salem, N.C.
