Pomeroy is a village in and the county seat of Meigs County, Ohio, United States, along the Ohio River. The population was 1,966 at the 2000 census. During the late 19th century, Pomeroy was an important producer of coal and salt. The first coal barges on the Ohio River were loaded there.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 3.3 square miles (8.5 km2), of which, 3.2 square miles (8.4 km2) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.1 km2) of it (1.52%) is water.
