Founded in 1975, the Court of Claims of Ohio offers a range of jurisdiction services. It hears and determines various civil actions filed against the state of Ohio and its agencies. The court also hears appeals for decisions made by the attorney general on claims allowed under the Victims of Crime Act. The Court of Claims of Ohio decides several civil claims that involve contract disputes, property damages, discriminations, wrongful imprisonments, personal injuries, and the immunity of state officers and employees. It maintains a panel of commissioners who are appointed by the Supreme Court and hear appeals made by crime victims. In addition, the court provides information on its activities through various calendars, including weekly and panel commissioners.
